Sexual Behaviour
There are some great things to on the internet and cool people to talk to, but sometimes people with bad intentions might act inappropriately towards you online. This might include saying sexual or inappropriate things to you, asking you to do things over webcam or insisting you meet up in the real world.
Advice
If someone online says something inappropriate to you or behaves in a way which upsets you or makes you feel uncomfortable, it is important for you to tell an adult you trust or report directly to us. We recommend you stop the chat with them immediately. This may involve leaving a chat room or social networking site for a while, or blocking them as an instant messenger contact. You can block someone by right clicking on them and clicking, ‘block contact’. When someone is blocked, they don’t know you have done it, you just appear offline on their contact list. They will not be able to chat with you if you have blocked them. You can report this behaviour to us using the links below.
What to do next
If someone has acted inappropriately online towards you, you can report it directly to us. This could include talking sexually or offensively, asking you to do things on webcam or insistent asking to meet in the real world. This behaviour might happen in a chat room, a message board, a social networking site, over instant messenger or on a mobile phone.
If you've been upset by some nasty content or an inappropriate image you may want to chat to someone about how you feel. There4me is a site where you can have a private one-to-one chat with someone from the children's charity NSPCC.
