Sex Offender Risk Assessment and Management in the Community
Keynote Speakers - Joe Sullivan & Valerie Sheehan
This course focuses on combining practical skills with current research and theory in order to enhance the proficiency of dynamic risk assessment and management of sex offenders. It recognises the time and workload constraints involved in this task, as well as the personal investment required.
In acknowledging these challenges, the course demonstrates ways to capitalise on the time professionals spend with/or relating to, sex offenders. It explores the unique complexity of individual cases, illustrating methods of combining clinical and actuarial judgement more comprehensively.
The course will also examine effective ways of handling difficult situations and provide ideas on how to plan home visits, considering issues of approach, questioning and engagement.
This course will allow me to make defensible decisions within a high risk environment with added confidence
