Managing investigations into serious sexual crimes against children can be complex and difficult. In light of this, it is essential that professionals are armed with the knowledge and practical skills needed to oversee such cases.
This course is designed to give Senior Investigating Officers, Interview Coordinators, and lead officers of an equivalent level from other agencies an insight into how sex offenders operate. It considers how this knowledge can be converted into effective practical investigation techniques, and be used to shape management strategy.
The Strategies for Investigating Serious Sexual Crimes against Children course aims to give delegates the skills required to create effective rapport building strategies that influence policy, interview strategies, post conviction action, and ultimately reduce the threat of child sexual abuse. This course aims to provide attendees with a good understanding of child sex offenders.

- explore effective ways of building rapport and creating the right environment between offender and investigator
- identify methods of developing and maintaining post interview conviction strategies
- explore case studies that illustrate the escalation of internet offending and benefits of long term post conviction strategies; and
- have an insight into collaboration with international law enforcement partners role in the investigation of sexual crimes against children committed abroad.
